Hubert E. Buote, 78
Retired Railroad Employee

Hubert E. ”Eddie” Buote, 78, of Mansfield died on Sunday June 25, 2006 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Verna T. (Cummings) Buote to whom he was married to for the past 53 years.
Born in Boston, MA on May 5, 1928 he was a loving son of the late George and Bertha (Gallant) Buote.
He was educated in Jamaica Plain schools. He had worked as a Brakeman for the New Haven & Hartford Railroads, which later became Amtrak. He was employed for 44 years prior to retiring in 1990.
Shortly after high school Eddie joined the U.S. Army National Guard. He served in the 101st Infantry Yankee Division. He retired after 22 years of service with the rank of Captain. He remained active with the Yankee Division and attended many retirement group functions.
He enjoyed working with his hands and thru his carpentry skills built flag cases and keepsake items which he would give to his family and friends. His wife Verna would also assist him in decorating the things he built.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield. He had made his home in Mansfield for the past 23 years and was formerly of Roslindale and Jamaica Plain.
In addition to his beloved wife of 53 years he is survived by his devoted daughter Verna Rose McLaughlin of Norton. His dear brothers and sisters Arnold Buote of Woodbridge, Virginia, Allan Buote of Norton, Eileen Haggerty of West Roxbury, Doris Horrigan of Dedham and the late Leonard Buote. Also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday June 29th at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North main St. Mansfield followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday June 28th from 4-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
