Wareham – Loretta A. (Sylvia) Madora, 85, of New Bedford, died Sunday at Tobey Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late John F. and Mary A. (Noyer) Sylvia, she had resided in New Bedford since 1987. Prior to her retirement in 1984 was worked at Acushnet Co. Mrs. Madora was a member of the Portuguese American Civic League, New Bedford. She enjoyed sports, needlepoint, crocheting and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include 2 sons: Douglas A. Madora and his wife Paulette of Westport and Wayne D. Madora of Boulder Creek, CA; a daughter: Marcia Elgar of Acushnet; 3 brothers: Donald J. Sylvia of Freetown, Raymond F. Sylvia of N. Dartmouth and Gorden M. Sylvia of S. Dartmouth; 2 sisters: Dorothy Grigaitis of Acushnet and Emily Rocheford of Dartmouth; 7 grandchildren: Cheryl Desroches, Charlene Alves, Sheli Madora, Amy Madora, Daniel Madora, Orion Galionia and O’Keefe Madora; 2 great granddaughters: Jessica Desroches and Kaylee Desroches; a great great grandson: Lars “LJ” Vinjerud; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the grandmother of the late Lewis W. “Billy” Elgar III.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the Potter Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M.
Visitation will be from 9 - 10:30 A.M. prior to the service.
Interment will be held at the convenience of the family
