Avis Lee Goodman of Chula died Sunday, June 25, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula. Rev. Randall Gay and Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Grandsons will be serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2006, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Goodman was born on February 2, 1919 in Waterloo and was the son of Wright Goodman and Nellie Sumner Goodman, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He was a retired farmer and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula.
Mr. Goodman is survived by his wife, Vera Pearman Goodman of Chula; three sons and one daughter-in-law, James Goodman of Chula, Raymond Goodman of Chula and Ray Goodman of Omega; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and and Linda and James Bryan of Chula; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
