Obituary

Bernard Anthony Barbieri, age 87, passed away after a long illness on 10/6/2023 in Andover. Bernie was born on 5/11/1936 in Lowell, MA, where he grew up and attended Keith Academy High School. He later went on to pursue an engineering degree at Lowell Technical Institute. He excelled academically and forged lasting friendships that would endure throughout his life.

A true Renaissance soul, Bernie had a passion for country music and loved to entertain his family and friends by playing his accordion at parties and annual gatherings. Bernie and Pauline enjoyed many adventures in their motorhome as they traveled the country. He was a man of strong unwavering faith and for many years he and Pauline were blessed to be part of a community of close friends who supported each other in their faith journey. His engaging smile, quick wit, and hearty laugh were just a few of his distinguishing qualities. Professionally, Bernie enjoyed a successful career as a regional sales manager at Topflight Corporation where his charismatic personality and love of people made it easy for him to create lifelong relationships with colleagues and the community at large.

What truly defined Bernie Barbieri, however, was his unwavering love and devotion to family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with his wife and children and welcomed any opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bernie looked forward to his daily phone conversations with his only sibling, his brother, Joseph Barbieri of Wisconsin. Despite the miles between them, they had a very strong bond and loving relationship.

Bernie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Pauline (Elie), and his parents, Joseph and Elena (Meli). He is survived by his children, Joseph Barbieri and his wife Valerie (Britt) of Hampton, NH, Debra Hutcheson and her husband John of Sebastian, Fl, Paula Stewart and her husband Michael of Tewksbury, and Melissa Barbieri and her wife Elizabeth (Murray) of Dracut. In addition to his children, he was blessed with ten grandchildren, Andrea (Barbieri) Tiberio and her husband James, Joseph Barbieri, Jeanna Barbieri, Joseph Doucette, Tyler Stewart and his wife Amanda (Carter), Kyle Stewart and his wife Sydney (Paolella), Breanna (Stewart) McDermott and her husband Michael, Emily (Stewart) Melanson and her husband Joshua, Brennan Barbieri and Leo Barbieri. His great-grandchildren, Cameron Tiberio, Elena Stewart, and Quinn Stewart.

The world has dimmed with the loss of Bernie, but the light he brought into the lives of those who were blessed to know him will continue to shine brightly in our hearts and memories.
