Peabody: Cletis L. Gitt age 88 of Peabody, died Saturday at his home in Peabody. He was the husband of Annette L. (Labrecque) Hennessy Gitt and he was also the husband of the late Ann L. (Lemiesz) Gitt.
Born and raised in Nebraska, he was the son of the late Lee G. & Marie (Johnson) Gitt. A veteran of World War II, he served with the U. S. Army Air Corps. Employed for 42 years by Stride Rite Shoe Co., he retired as foreman. Cletis was a loving husband, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 daughters: Elizabeth A. Cullinan of Topsfield, Dorothy A. Raynes of Jamestown, RI, 3 step-daughters: Patricia A. Devlin of Quincy, Rita A. Briggs of Hanson, Cheryl F. Hamm of Readville and 1 step-son: Charles F. Hennessey of Quincy, Mr. Gitt is survived by 2 brothers: LaVern Gitt & Robert Gitt both of Washington state, a sister: Evon F. Fruedenburg of Arizona, 12 grandchildren including Brian J. Cullinan and Tristian S. & Mariah L. Raynes and was ‘pepere’ to 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Thursday, June 29, 2006, at 9 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem [Rt. 114 / 1-A] followed by his funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10 am. Visiting hours: Wednesday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
