Obituary


Anna Vasquez (Locore) of Medford passed away on October 1, 2023. She was 89 years old. Anna was the beloved wife of Rudy P. Vasquez. Born on January 1, 1934, she was the cherished daughter of the late Emilio and the Mary (Aceto) Locore.

Anna was a New Year’s baby, born in 1934. She grew up on North Margin St. in Boston’s North End. Anna met the love of her life, Rudy, at the Bel-A-Roue Roller Skating Rink in Medford. Although he was in the Navy, Anna and Rudy wrote letters to one another throughout their courtship and were married on February 14, Valentine’s Day, 1954. They resided in Medford for 69 years.

Although battling dementia the last 7 years, she still managed to keep us laughing with her sense of humor. Anna loved to dance and could carry a tune. She will be missed dearly.

Anna was the devoted mother of Gerald Vasquez and his partner Kristin Swensen of Lyman, ME, Stephan Vasquez and his wife Charlene of Tewksbury, David Vasquez and his wife Jennifer of Medford and Maria Manning and her husband John of Medford. She was the adored grandmother of Gerald Vasquez Jr., Rachael Jepson, Stephan Vasquez Jr. and Alana and Jack Manning and loving great-grandmother of Sierra, Ayla and Cole Jepson. Anna was the dear sister of the late Nicholas Locore and his surviving wife Alphonsa of Pomona, CA and Emilio Locore and his wife Phyllis of Saugus.

Anna’s funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main St. Medford, MA, on Saturday, October 7, at 9AM followed by a funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church 600 Pleasant St, Malden, MA, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Friday, October 6, from 4-8PM.
