Germaine F. Lafond 97 formerly of 1 Main St. Woonsocket died Saturday at St. Antoine Residence in N. Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Ernest J. Lafond. Mrs. Lafond was born in St. David d’Yamaska P.Q. Canada, a daughter of the late Gedeon and Alexandrina (Beaudet) Lariviere. Mrs. Lafond was a spooler at the former Lippitt Mills, she also worked in housekeeping at the former Fogarty Hospital. She was a communicant at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church and a member of the Christian Group of Holy Family Church.
She is survived by four sons Ernest R Lafond of Harrisville, RI, Leo R. Lafond of Goodyear, AZ, Ronald J. Lafond of Glocester, RI, and Robert L. Lafond of N. Smithfield, Ri, five daughters Lucille Paquette of Woonsocket, RI, Muriel Dagesse of Harrisville, RI, Janet Contre of Hyannis, MA, Arline Richard of Blackstone, MA, and Claiare Berard of Cumberland, RI, a sister Simone Pomes of Lincoln, RI, thirty four grandchildren, fourty six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Normand F. Lafond, grandmother of the late Diane Lafond, and sister of the late Clovis, Raoul, and George Lariviere, Florence Lorentowicz, and Marie Karczmarczyk.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 10:00 from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Park Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be held in Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Ave. N. Smithfield in her memory would be appreciated.
