Obituary

Joan Florence Potvin, 82 of 190 St. Paul St. N. Smithfield died Friday June 16, 2006 at Landmark Medical Center. She was the only child of the late artist Rene Potvin and Delvina Larocque. She was also the granddaughter of the late artist and woodcarver Moise Potvin.
Miss Potvin was born April 28, 1924 in Woonsocket where she lived for most of her life. She was a hairstylist and operated Jeanne D’Arc’s Maison de Beauté on Manville Rd. in Woonsocket for twenty five years until her retirement in 1992 when she moved to Deerfield Commons in N. Smithfield. Joan was artistically gifted like her father and grandfather and found joy in pursuing her interests in painting and music in her retirement.
She is survived by her cherished lifelong friend Rita Jeremy of N. Smithfield and devoted cousins Sylvia and Roger Bartholomy of Woonsocket. Her life will be celebrated in a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, at 10:00 am in st. Theresa’s Church Rathbun St. in Blackstone. Burial will be held in Precious Blood Cemetery in Woonsocket.
