Obituary

Frances Brunelle, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on September 30, 2023, at the age of 95. She departed on the 17th anniversary of her late husband, Daniel F. Brunelle's passing, surrounded by her devoted family.

Frances was born on January 16, 1928, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the late Henry Sarault and the late Gertrude (Geary) Sarault. She spent her formative years in Lowell, where she attended the local schools and established deep roots in the community.

She has been a resident of the Highlands section of Lowell since 1946, and she was an integral part of the community. She will always be remembered as the matriarch and the glue that held her family together. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds. Even well into her 80s, she continued to be a dedicated caregiver and actively participated in her grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's lives, attending school events and sporting activities with unwavering enthusiasm. She was a devoted and longtime communicant of Saint Margaret of Scotland Church, where she found solace in her faith and contributed to the spiritual well-being of the community.

Frances Brunelle is survived by her three loving children: Sharon Woodward and her husband Paul Hughes of Newburyport, Mary Lou Cody of Lowell, and Daniel Brunelle of Pepperell. She is also survived by her dear sister, Claire St. Gelais of Dracut.

Frances leaves behind a legacy of love and family devotion through her thirteen grandchildren: Philip Breen, Jamie Schwarzenberg, Michael Messina, Jennifer Cody, Erin Cody, Katy Cody, Stacey Mcvicar, Nicole Brunelle, Danielle Brunelle, Carrie Brunelle, Danny Brunelle, Amy Brunelle, and Chris Brunelle. She is also survived by twenty cherished great-grandchildren.

Frances will be remembered by many nieces and nephews, among them her close nephew Randy Sporleder, with whom she shared a special bond. She was the mother-in-law of the late David Messina and Patrick Cody and was the sister of the late Rita Howe and Henry Sarault.

Frances Brunelle's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, Daniel, in the arms of the angels.
