William A. “Billy” Roberts, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, June 23, 2006 at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, June 26, at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald, with Rev. Robert McDearmid officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9, Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts was born March 19, 1929, in Ben Hill County to the late Emory Moses and Geraldine Juanita Bond Roberts. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, he was former owner and operator of the Sultana Truck Stop and Service Station, and a farmer. He lived in the community all of his life. He was of the Baptist Faith and attended Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Roberts is survived by a son: Emory David Roberts of Savannah; 3 grandchildren: Junior Scott Smith of Fitzgerald, Courtney Glen Smith of Screven, and Crystal Elaine Roberts of Fitzgerald; 2 great grandchildren: Tyler Scott Smith of Fitzgerald and Kendal Hope Smith of Screven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine McElmurray Roberts.
