Obituary

James G. Carmody, a long time Wellesley resident and formerly of Brookline, passed away on June 23rd at the Wingate Nursing Center in Needham. He was 76. Mr. Carmody was born in Boston in 1929 and was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Carmody. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He worked as an investigator for the Massachusetts Correctional Department.

He was the devoted father of Michelle Stewart and her husband Daniel of Falmouth, Kathleen Mourgis and her husband George of Newton, Janine Bushey of Worcester, James Carmody, Jr. and his wife Amy of Waltham and Jennifer Phelan and her husband Michael of Framingham. Mr. Carmody is also survived by nine grandchildren.

His funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St, Wellesley, on Tuesday at 8:00 AM. His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Paul's Church, Wellesley, at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, on Tuesday at 11:30 AM. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Church, 500 Washington St, Wellesley 02482.
