Mae A. (Demoranville) Gauthier, 92, of New Bedford died Wednesday August 14, 2002 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Gauthier, and daughter of the late Mary E. (Pittsley) and Valmer Ansel Demoranville.
Mrs. Gauthier was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.
She was the former proprietor of Mae's Diner, Young's Fish & Chips and Bill's Lunch in New Bedford.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mary Slowik of New Bedford and Colette Brightman of Acushnet; 3 sons, Ulderic Masse and Clovis "Toby" Gauthier, both of New Bedford, and Robert V. Gauthier of Dartmouth; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
A private Funeral Service was held on Saturday morning in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial followed in Acushnet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Luke's Hospice, 28 Sconticut Neck Rd., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
