CLAYTON M. HOELSCHEN, age 79, of Hingham, died on Thursday, June 22nd at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Mr. Hoelschen was born in Boston and was a lifelong resident of Hingham. He was well known of the South Shore as a self-employed carpenter and builder. During World War II, Mr. Hoelschen served with the United States Army and was a member of the Edward Ball Cole American Legion Post in Hingham. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hingham and was a former volunteer firefighter with the Hingham Fire Department.
Husband of the late Helen R. (Callahan) Hoelschen, he leaves two daughters; Nancy M. Olson of Hingham and Katherine B. Rehman of Whitman, and four sons; Bernard J. of Quincy, Clayton C. of Hingham, Stephen A. of Naples, Florida and David D. of Wareham. Also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A Prayer Service will be conducted on Tuesday, June 27th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit at the Downing Chapel on Monday from 4-7 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Cerebral Palsy of Mass., Inc. 43 Old Colony Ave., Quincy, MA 02170.
The interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hingham.
