Mary A. "Mae" (Hanlon) Prince, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 in her home in Charlestown. She was 89 years of age.
Mae was born in Boston on November 6, 1933, a daughter of the late John J. Hanlon and Agnes E. (O'Brien) Hanlon. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Julie Billiard High School. Mae worked as an office manager with Filenes for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching game shows, and traveling with the seniors of Charlestown.
Mae is the beloved wife of the late retired Boston Firefighter Robert E. "Bob" Prince. She is the devoted mother of Diane Prince, Robert Prince, Gerard Prince, and the late Mary Ciampa and her surviving husband David. She is the loving Nana of Andrew, Caitlin, Kelleigh, Kathleen, and to her great-grandchildren Ryan, Noelle, and Alivia. She is the dear sister of David Hanlon, and the late Dorothy "Dot" McNeil, and Joan M. Farley. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mae's funeral on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 9 A.M. from the Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 A.M. in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington. Her visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
