Richard A. Powers, age 73, a 44-year resident of Winchester, formerly of the Bronx, NY, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on August 30, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Alice (Ghent) Powers.
Born and raised in New York, NY, he was the son of the late Arthur V and Anna (McCabe) Powers. Richard graduated from Power Memorial High School in Manhattan and continued his education receiving his Bachelor’s Degree from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY. For many years he worked in marketing and publishing for various companies in New York, including the Wall St. Journal.
Upon moving to Boston, Richard continued his work at Inc. Magazine and Raben Publishing companies before becoming the president of Erdos & Morgan. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was an avid sports fan.
In addition to his wife, Alice, Richard is lovingly survived by his children: Christian Powers of Winchester, Keira Bonomo and her husband Joe of Greensburg, PA, and Caitlin George and her husband Justin of Andover. He was the loving grandfather of Joey Bonomo, Lainey and Gwen George. Richard was predeceased by siblings Robert Powers and Judith Ibbotson.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for Visiting Hours at Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester, on Friday, September 1, from 5-7PM and again on Saturday, September 2 at 9AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 155 Washington St., Winchester at 10AM. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester.
