Mary A. Marshall, age 96, of Winchester formerly of Woburn passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 20th, at the Aberjona Nursing Center where she was a resident since November 2004. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Marshall with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Cambridge she was the daughter of the late Mary A. (Donaher) and A. Edwin Townsend. Mary´s family eventually settled in Belmont where she was raised and educated.
Mary was devoted to her family and her church. She was a member of the Ladies Sodality at both St. Charles Church and St. Anthony Church in Woburn. She also worked for many years as a retail clerk with the R.H. Stearn Co. of Boston and was a member of the Vincent Club which was a social and charitable organization of R.H. Stearn employees.
In addition to her late husband, Mary is predeceased by her brothers Edwin, William and Francis Townsend. She is survived by her son, Paul J. Marshall and his wife Dorothy of Reading, daughters, Patricia Totas and her husband J. Kenneth, of West Hyannisport formerly of Acton, and Nancy M. Reardon-Blanaru of Peabody. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Pamela Totas-Mortazari, Kenneth J. Totas both of Los Angeles, CA, Kara J. McCarthy of Milton, Paul T. Marshall of Arlington, Kevin J. Marshall of Philadelphia, PA, Patricia A. Reardon of Peabody, Sean P. Reardon of Brighton and great granddaughter Kaitlyn McCarthy. She is further survived by her sister Helen P. Murray of Whitinsville.
Funeral from the McLaughlin – Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Friday at 9:30 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church 138 Cambridge Rd. Woburn, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Friday morning prior to the funeral mass from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
