Obituary

Cheryl A. Eastman passed away peacefully in the hospital with her children by her side on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the age of 63 after a courageous 24-year battle with breast cancer.

Born in Brockton, MA in 1960, the daughter of the late Mary Zonfrillo of Plainville, MA. She was adopted by Claire and Raymond Sanborn of Brockton.

Cheryl graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational High School with a focus in Cosmetology and it was not long before she owned her own hair salon called Cheri's in Brockton. Shortly after, she decided to change careers and worked as an EMT for the Norfolk-Bristol Ambulance Service. Her passion for helping and caring for others was ignited and she became a phlebotomist at Cardinal Cushing Hospital in Stoughton. She then obtained her Bachelor's Degree in nursing from University of Massachusetts, Boston on June 1, 2002 and became a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse on the South Shore in various capacities including, Cardiology, Critical Care, Cancer - Medical Surgery, Home Health Care, and most recently was a PCA review nurse for Optum Health. She enjoyed teaching others over the years through the various roles she was in.

Cheryl resided in Hanson, MA since 1986. It was there she raised her four children. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hanson serving as a Deacon for a period of time.

She loved spending time sitting at the beach with her feet in the water, watching the hummingbirds on her back deck, attending various cooking and art classes with her treasured friends along with spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Christy A. Hunter and her husband Jeff of Hanson, Cory C. Eastman of Hanson, Todd W. Eastman and his wife Melissa of Rockland, Taylor R. Eastman of Plymouth, her beloved five grandchildren, Toby, Jesse, Zoey, Charlotte, and Evan, brothers, Michael, John, and Sam, sisters, Julie and Priscilla and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary, her brothers, Edward and Raymond Jr. and her adopted parents Claire and Raymond.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 4pm-7pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10am in the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Cemetery, 321 High Street, Canton.

In lieu of flowers, her children request that donations be made to Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Research via giving.massgeneral.org to continue her fight against cancer.
