
DUDLEY – Jean (Craig) Lonergan, 90, of 132 Center Road, Dudley Hill, died Monday, June 19, in Webster Manor. Her husband of 20 years, Thomas M. Lonergan, died in 1960.
She leaves a daughter, Nancy J. Lonergan of Derry, NH; a son, Steven C. Lonergan of Waterville Valley, NH; a brother, Ralph A. Craig of Sebring, FL; a grandson, Michael Lonergan of Loveland, CO; and a cousin, Barbara Craig of Westcott, RI.
She was born in the Fisherville section of South Grafton, the daughter of John P. and Mabel G. (Greene) Craig. She was raised in Hope, RI, and lived in West Warwick before moving to Dudley in 1940. She graduated from West Warwick High School in 1933 and the Edgewood Secretarial School in 1934.
Mrs. Lonergan was a library assistant at Nichols College for 21 years, retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Dudley and its Ladies Benevolent Society. She sang in the alto section of the church choir and once served as a deacon. She was the clerk of the Black Tavern Historical Society. She loved classical music and enjoyed playing the piano. She also liked baking her secret recipes for friends. She was an avid reader and cat lover.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 9, in the First Congregational Church, 135 Center Road, Dudley, MA 01571
