Frank I. Noyes, age 88, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023. He was the husband of the love of his life Bernice (Moo Young) Noyes for 68 years.
Frank was born and raised in Patten, Maine, son of the late Edward and Myrtle (Arbo) Noyes. He grew up working on the family farm and helping out with his uncle’s lumber business. At age 17 he enlisted in the US Navy and traveled the world. He was a proud retiree after 20 years of dedicated service and continued to work as an electrician, the trade he learned in the military. Frank and Bernice lived in San Diego for almost all of his military career and raised their children there. In 1989 they moved to Melbourne, Florida, and resided there until moving to Brockton in September of 2022.
Frank loved spending time in his garage. His collection of tools was the envy of all the neighborhood. He was happy to share tools and knowledge with anyone who asked; he was the go-to person for fixing anything, from plumbing to cars, and, of course, electrical problems. Frank was an avid learner until the last few years. He would start each day with all of the puzzles in the newspaper and a hot cup of black coffee or tea. He never offered advice unless asked, and then he always had a short, simple answer with a little bit of humor.
Frank is survived by his children Sandra Chin and her husband Phil, Brian Noyes, Wanda Alves and husband Joe and Philip Noyes and wife Cynthia; by his brothers Adelbert “Skeet” and wife Annette, Carlton “Kip” and his sisters Christine “Kitty” and Suzanne. He leaves 8 grandchildren: Yvette, Jonathan, Kimberly, Brianne, Joseph, Jenna, Alex, David, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his siblings Bill and Verda and his grandson Jason.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton, on Thursday August 17, from 4-7pm. A family graveside service will be held on August 22, at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
