On August 5, 2023 Sonnia F. Quintero got her wings & went to walk with the angels. She was 77 years old.
Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador Sonnia dreamt of moving to the U.S to make a better life for herself. She arrived in New York where she put her hairdressing & beautiful manicure skills to work. Sonnia met her husband Camilo Quintero and they married in March of 1971. She was a proud mother of five children. Four daughters- Roxana, Sonnia, Sharon, Sabrina and her son Joshua. Along with being a cosmetologist she was also a seamstress. Sonnia would spend hours making her daughters matching dresses, while also making sure all her girls had beautiful manicures.
One of her proudest moments was when she became a citizen of the United States of America on June 3, 2008. She was very nervous about the exam but passed with flying colors.
It wouldn't be wrong to say that Sonnia was strong, resilient & stubborn and it showed through all her perseverance. No matter how sick she had gotten she always fought and made it through.
Sonnia went by many names but the one that she loved the most besides Mom was what all her grandchildren called her "Nini".
