Obituary

Bernice M. Black, 77, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 21, at Big Creek Baptist Church, Irwin County, with Rev. C.A. Hulett, Rev. Leroy Spivey and Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Black was born May 28, 1929, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Seaborn and Pauline Coleman Moody. She lived in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties all of her life. Mrs. Black was the mother of 13 children and a homemaker. She was a former employee of H.R. Kaminsky & Sons, Ocilla Truck Stop, Osceola Restaurant and she was a sitter and caregiver for the elderly. Mrs. Black was a member of the Fitzgerald Church Of God.

Mrs. Black is survived by her sons: Randy Black of Fitzgerald, Jack Black of Panama City, FL and Charles Black, of Fitzgerald; daughters: Emma Jean Bundrick of Alachua, FL, Sara Day of Cordele, Patricia Owens of Irwinville, Darnell Sumner, Sue Rathburn and Dinah Black, all of Fitzgerald, Sheila Hall and Lucy Nell Ford, both of Ocilla; 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; brothers: Bud Moody and Richard Moody, both of Ocilla; sisters: Reba Whitley, Mary Ann Sanders and Sudie Musslewhite, all of Fitzgerald, Sylvia Wiley of Ashburn and Velma Mitchell of Fitzgerald. She was preceded in death by her husband. Columbus Howard Black, 2 sons and 1 sister.
