Obituary

Westport – George E. Dietzel, 82, of Westport, died unexpectedly, Sunday at home. He was the husband of the late Ella R. (Guardabascio) Dietzel and the late Norma J. (Pontes) Dietzel.

Born in Cambridge, son of the late George and Laura (Miller) Dietzel, he had resided in Westport for the past 41 years. Mr. Dietzel was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Marine Corps. Prior to his retirement, he was a machine operator for the former Allied Container Co. in Dedham, MA. He was a member of the Westport Shellfish Association.

Survivors include a son: Millin P. Crook of Fall River; a daughter: Candace J. Cottrell of Tiverton, RI; 2 sisters: Doris Toneatti of Dedham and Marilyn Stivaletta of Dedham; 3 granddaughters; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Kenneth Dietzel.

Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the Potter Funeral Home.


Calling hours Wednesday 6 – 8 P.M.


Interment will be private.
