Bonzagni, Louis P. "Sweetser", of Plymouth, 84, on June 15th at home. Born May 24, 1922 in Plymouth, he was the son of the late Armando Bonzagni and the late Elvira (Soffriti) Bonzagni. Louis, better known to his Duxbury friends as "Louie Sweetser" was part owner of Sweetser's General Store in Duxbury along with the late Albert P. Albertini and the late O. Arrigo Guidoboni in 1951. Louis retired from Sweetser's General Store in 1972. Louis was also the part owner of "the Plymouth Belle", a fishing dragger which was built in 1948 by Frank Jesse & Sons of Plymouth and later sold in 1963 to its new owner in Provincetown, Mass. He attended Plymouth High School and always enjoyed attending the reunions with the class of 1940. Louis was an accomplished accordion player, taking lessios with Frank Gaviani of Boston starting at the young age of 11. Louis had his first solo at the Frank Gaviani accordian concert in 1935. At age 15, he was a certified accordion teacher and taught pupils in the area and had a group that played at the Buzzards Bay Hotel with Eddie Brenner on the guitar and Albert Reggiani on the base three nights a week. At age 18, he then played at the Sagamore Inn with Herbie McBride on the saxaphone and Charlie Clark on the guitar. His interests included fishing, bird feeding, gardening, his 3 adopted stray cats (Scoot, Patches and Midnight) that he fed and gave shelter to outside of his home and his dog Misty that someone abandoned on his street in the 1980's. His entertainment and enjoyment was always playing his accordion. He is survived by his wife Yvonne (Rezendes) Bonzagni, his nephew John Bonzagni of NC, niece Nancy Lands of TX, 4 step-daughters, Maureen Floros and her husband Andreas of CA, Michelle Rezendes of CA, Doreen Gravelle and her husband Arthur of New Bedford, and Maria Kilduff and her husband Sean of Kingston, 12 step grandchildren, 3 great nephews, 1 great niece, 2 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew. Brother of the late Arthur Bonzagni and husband of the late Iride (Albertini) and Barbara (Seymour). A funeral mass on Thursday June 22 at St. Mary's Church at 10AM, leaving from the Richard Davis Funeral Home at 9AM. Burial at Vine Hills Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday June 21 from 5-8 PM. Donations in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
