STANDISH- Harlan Ralph Estes, age 63, passed away on July 18, 2023, at his home after a
courageous battle with cancer. Harlan was born in Connecticut and later moved to Maine. He was the
son of the late Ralph and Mertie (Fowler) Estes.
Harlan went to Bonny Eagle, after school, he went to work with his father and brothers at Ralph
Estes and Sons, Carpet and Appliances for years, also building houses. After going on to working
for Peirless Construction and traveling. He also worked for Atlantic Telecom of Standish. Then on to
Wireless Construction, doing tower sites, site work construction, and heavy equipment for Wireless.
We all called him "MacGyver", he could build and fix anything! A jack of all trades. Harlan had a very
kind heart. He loved to teach people, his many friends would say they learned so much from working
with him.
Harlan loved Harleys and spending time with his family. Harlan built his home. He loved doing the clearing of the
land, and helping his wife Marti, with gardening, moving rocks, and anything that made her happy.
Harlan is survived by his wife, Marti Sullivan Estes of 34 years; 3 wonderful children-, Brianna Estes Greene
and her husband Jimmy Greene and two grandchildren, Bethany and Allie of Hollis, Brooke Estes of
Standish, son Nick Estes of Standish; Harlan's 4 brothers-, Allen and wife, Collette, Arthur and wife, Cheri,
Stephen and wife, Marie, Roy and wife, Debbie Estes all of Standish; Brother-in -law, Mike and Karen Sullivan
of Buxton, and Shannon Sullivan of Buxton.
He was predeceased by sister and brother-in-law, Donald and Sandy Cragin of Standish. Many beloved
nieces and nephews. Harlan will miss his dog, Hachi.
Services will be in late August for a celebration of life.
