BOSTON - Alvaro D. Carvalho, 77, of 230 Newhill Ave., Somerset, MA, died Saturday at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was the husband of Palmira Luciana (Botelho)Carvalho. He is survived by Two Sons: David M. Carvalho of Fall River, MA and Alvaro A. Carvalho, Jr. of Somerset, MA, Three Daughters: Philomena C. Medeiros of Swansea, MA, Pamela C. Ross of Fall River, MA, and Rita Carvalho of Fall River, MA, Six Brothers: Guilherme Dias of Fall River, MA, Jose Dias of Fall River, MA, Luis Dias of Fall River, MA, Bento Dias of Somerset, MA, Eduardo Dias of East Providence, RI, Augusto Dias of Fall River, MA, One Granddaughter and One Step Great Grandson, and Many nieces and nephews. He was also father of the late Joao Luciano, and brother of the late John, Miguel, Messias, and Manuel Dias.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Guilherme Dias and the late Maria C. (Arruda) Dias. He was a Somerset resident since 1979. Before retiring, he was a Stone Mason at the former Moliterno Stone Sales of Lincoln, R.I. He was a member of the Masons Union Local # 1 of Cranston, R.I. He was a member of the Afonso Costa Republican Club, and a member of the Irmandade Do Santo Nome of St. Michael Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., Fall River on Thursday at 8:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St., Fall River, at 9:00 A.M. Internment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-9 P.M.
