Evelyn Edwards, 100, died Monday evening, July 17, 2023, in Lawrenceville.
She was born and raised in Fitzgerald, moving to Tifton with her husband Ralph Edwards after they married, where they lived for 60 years and raised their two daughters. She was a Business Major at the University of Georgia with further education at the University of Alabama. She was active in their radio business where she had her own program “Women in the News”, and very community-minded. She was proud of the many county-wide programs she championed including the Polio Vaccine Drive, Heart Program, Girl Scout Leader, and a member of the Twentieth Century Library Club. Evelyn was a dedicated Pink Lady at the Tift Regional Medical Center for 35 years. She had a passion for family, friends, and playing Bridge.
Evelyn is predeceased by her husband Ralph Edwards; they were married for 67 wonderful years. She leaves behind two daughters, Roslyn Edwards Forstot (Richard Forstot) of Canton and Gale Edwards Hawkins of Snellville; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
