George Ellis Christman age 89 departed this life and went to be with his beloved wife Fannie Mae on June 18, 2006 at his home near Water Valley, MS. A member of Anchor Baptist Church, he was retired from Chambers Corporation and enjoyed truck farming, fishing and hunting. He vacationed and traveled with Susan and family and covered 2/3 of the United States over twelve years. Mr. Christman served his country in the United States Army Air Force during World War II as an Ammunitions Inspector.
Visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Dr. Gerald Shook officiating at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 21, 2006. Interment will follow in Shipp Cemetery in Lafayette County with David Norin, Joe Christman, Stacey Harmon, Robbie Bishop, Ricky Harwell and David Tarver serving as pallbearers.
Survivors include: His sons Gerald (Belinda) Christman of Oxford, MS and Kenneth Christman of Water Valley, MS and a daughter Susan (David) Norin of Lindenhurst, IL. He leaves five grandchildren, Genia, Tommy, Joe, Jerri Lynn and Heather and four great-grandchildren, Katie, Dylan, Colin and Sarah Lindsey.
Mr. Christman was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Christman and Rhoda Burke Christman: his wife of 51 years, Fannie Mae Johnson Christman ( Aug. 15, 1988) and four brothers and three sisters.
