Mary R. (Grant) Piantoni, age 84 of Middleboro, died July 10, 2023 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. Mary was the loving wife for 55 years of the late Louis A. Piantoni. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Reginald C. and Kathleen M. (Walsh) Grant.
Mary was a graduate of Brockton High School and Bridgewater State University. While in high school, Mary worked at Dorothy Lou’s Pastry Shop where she met her future husband. Though she received her degree in education and was an elementary school teacher in Easton, she would spend the majority of her adult life at Dorothy Lou’s with her husband, retiring 14 years ago.
Mary also lived in South Easton where she was active in Holy Cross Church and Easton Jaycees. She later moved to Mansfield and then settled in Middleboro with her children.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed watching her grandchildren perform, as well as sitting by the pool and playing cards with her friends. She also liked to read, knit, crochet, travel and shop.
Mary was the mother of Robin E. Maxwell, Erin C. Piantoni, Holly A. Piantoni all of Middleboro and the late Dawn M. Piantoni. She was the grandmother of Timothy W. and Bonnie J. Maxwell and sister of Ellen A. Dutcher of Florida, Susan K. Erickson of Brockton and the late John E. Grant and Richard C. Grant. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday, July 16 from 2-5pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Monday at 8:30am for a Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Mansfield at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
