FALL RIVER…Dolores (Medeiros) Pavao, 89, of Fall River, formerly of Westport, passed away June 28, 2023, at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was the loving wife of the late John A. Pavao to whom she had been married for 52 years, prior to his passing.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Paiva) Medeiros. She moved to Westport with her family at the age of 5 and only recently moved back to Fall River.
Mrs. Pavao had worked for many years as a Floor Lady in the local textile industry before retiring almost 30 years ago. She was a communicant of St. George Church in Westport where she was a member of their Couples Club and the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus. She was also a member of the International Lady Garment Workers Union, the Red Hat Society and was an Associate of the Sisters of the Holy Union. She enjoyed playing bingo and singing karaoke. Dolores will always be remembered among her family for her large Sunday dinners. She loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna M. Hancock and her husband George of Fall River; her son-in-law, Melvin Hathaway of Fall River; 6 grandchildren: Joshua Pavao, Alphonse Hathaway, Matthew Abrantes, Adam Fernandes, George Hancock, III, and Austin Hancock; 4 great grandchildren: Hannah Pavao, Joshua Pavao, Jr., Adam Fernandes, Jr., and Lillian Rose Hancock.; along with several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Catherine D. Hathaway and sister of the late Joseph Medeiros, Jr. (her twin) and Anthony Medeiros.
