Thomas Edward Platz, 70 of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 29, 2023 with his loving wife by his side. He was the husband of Ana M. Melo, whom he shared the last 18 years with.
He was born in Erie, PA on November 14, 1952 and was a son of the late Shirley (Stover) Brundage and stepson of the late James Brundage. He was raised in Erie, PA, where he attended the area schools graduating from Academy High School before earning his Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from Penn State University. In 1978 he relocated to Tewksbury, where he raised his family. He was the past treasurer of the Tewksbury Lions Club and member of the Nashoba Sportsmens Club in Acton, both where he made many friends.
Thomas possessed a remarkable talent for problem-solving and a steadfast dedication to his profession as a quality engineer. He invested his time and expertise in several prominent computer and medical supplies companies across New England, including Smith and Nephew, GE, Conmed, Boston Scientific, Wang Laboratories, Integra LifeSciences, Medtronic, and NP Medical. Thomas took immense pride in being a loving father and grandfather, consistently providing unwavering support to his family. He particularly enjoyed showcasing his culinary skills by preparing meals for his loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Ana M. Melo of Tewksbury, he is survived by his three children, Michele Hansen and her husband, Scott of Attleboro, MA, Sean Platz of Pawtucket, RI, and Tiana Antul and her husband, John of Worcester, MA; and his stepdaughter, Sonia Cordeiro of Lynn, MA.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kai and Chloe Hansen, Emily, Hannah, and Hailey Platz, and Paul Antul; his sister, Susan DeGroff and her husband, Brian of O'Fallon, MO; his nephews, Nathan and Riley DeGroff, both of O'Fallon, MO; and the mother of his children, Deborah Graziano of Dracut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepson, the late John Paul Cordeiro.
