Obituary

Ernest J. Lavarnway, 81, of New Durham, NH, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at his home. He was born in Nashua, NH on August 28, 1920, a son of the late Edward and Bernadette (Goddeau) Lavarnway. He was a resident of New Durham for the past 15 years, formerly living in Hudson, NH. Mr. Lavarnway proudly served in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Hudson. Mr. Lavarnway volunteered as an instructor for the NH Fish & Game Hunter Safety Program. He enjoyed spending time outdoors gardening.

He is survived by his son, Master Engraver, Joseph (wife Franca) of Mexico, two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Carson of Springfield, IL, Mrs. Raymond (Vivian) Dion of Nashua, ten grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one brother, Lawrence Lavarnway of Groveton, GA, three sisters, Mrs. Ernest (Agnes) Caron of Port Richey, FL, Beatrice Henderson, Rita Brooks, both of Watervliet, NY, one sister-in-law, Rita Lavarnway of Nashua, his special friend, Lillian Jensen, who tended to his needs for several months. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Lillian A. (Beckford) Lavarnway who died in 2000.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19th at 10:00 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. The burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, August 18th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9.
