FALL RIVER - Manuel B. Chaves, age 71, of 6 Middlesex St. Fall River, died Thursday in Fall River at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the Husband of Cecilia (Pereira Furtado) Chaves. He is survived by 2 Sons: Manuel Francisco Chaves of Alaska and James Chaves of Somerset, 1 Daughter: Maria Do Carmo Cabral of Dartmouth, 5 Grandchildren.
Born in Fenais Da Luz, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Francisco Medeiros Chaves and the late Maria Rosario Pedro (Barbosa) Chaves. He was a resident of Fall River since 1966. Prior to retiring, he had worked as a Custodian for Quaker Mfg. Co. in Fall River. Previously he had worked in the Construction Business. He was a member of Espirito Santo Church and a member of the Nossa Senhora Da Luz Band Club Society.
His Funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 North Main Street on Wednesday at 7:45 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass in Espirito Santo Church, Alden St. Fall River at 9:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday 5:00-9:00 P.M. Kindly Omit Flowers.
