Douglas J. Nason, 73

Dateline: Norton, MA

Douglas J. Nason, age 73, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of his home, in the presence of his loving family on Sunday, June 25, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Elena M. (D’Angelo) Nason, to whom he was wed on June 10, 1972.

Born in Attleboro, MA on September 28, 1949, he was the loving son of the late Alfred R. “Jim” and June E. (Cathcart) Nason.

Doug grew up in Norton and was a 1968 graduate of Norton High School. As a youth, he was actively involved in Boy Scouts and obtained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Nason had been employed for twenty-five years with the Bristol County Sheriffs Department. He served under Sheriff David Nelson and later under Sheriff Thomas Hodgson. He rose to the rank of Chief Deputy and in 1997 was named Deputy Sheriff of the Year. Doug had previously worked in real estate investments.

Doug’s family, whom he loved dearly, were always the number one priority in his life. His hobbies included beekeeping, gardening, being an avid New England sports fan and a NASCAR fan as well. He will always be remembered for his love and affection towards the German Shepherds that adorned his home throughout the years.

In addition to his wife of fifty-one years, he is survived by his devoted daughters Kristy Perry and her husband Mark of Norton, Kelly Jackson and her husband Thomas of Norton and the late Stephanie Nason. He was the cherished and proud grandfather of Aidan, Stefana, Krista, William and Elena Perry, and Thomas, James and Juliet Jackson. He is also survived by his loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 29th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date at the Norton Common Cemetery in Norton.
