Obituary

We are sad to announce the death of Remo Palomba, born on February 28, 1937. He passed away in his home on June 16, 2023.

He married and was devoted to his beloved childhood sweetheart, Jo-Anne (Giuliana), since 1958 and has kept her spirit alive since her passing in 2011. Remo grew up in the North End of Boston, raised his family in Jamaica Plain, and enjoyed his summers at the lake in New Hampshire.

Preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Nello Palomba, Helen Buonopane, Ann Villa, Linda Swyer, Gloria Madden and Richard Palomba.

Remo leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law Susan & Charles Sweeney and his daughter and son-in-law Cheryl Giddings & Rubén Carrizosa. Remo is also survived by his four granddaughters: Joanna Sweeney, Nicole Sweeney, Giuliana Giddings and Allegra Giddings and his great-granddaughter Geneva Sweeney and his great-grandson the late Charles Remo.
Remo also leaves behind many adoring family members and a loving and nurturing church community.

Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street in West Roxbury. Funeral from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 21 at 11:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 2078 Centre St. at 12:30 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Interment Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Remo may be made to your chosen Animal Shelter or Rescue. For directions and guestbook gormleyfuneral.com.
