Obituary

Susan A. (Klarfeld) Nowlan, age 79, a resident of Tewksbury for 33 years, passed away at the Lahey Clinic & Medical Center in Burlington on Friday, June 9, 2023.

She was the beloved wife of Philip A. Nowlan, with whom she would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on July 4, 2023.

Born in Cambridge on September 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Klarfeld and the late Eileen (Dewey) Klarfeld.

Susan was raised in Cambridge and Newton, MA and graduated from Newton North High School.
She was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Newton.

Susan enjoyed taking road trips throughout the United States and vacationing in Ogunquit, Maine. In addition, she loved to design and construct bird houses.

Susan will lovingly be remembered for her patience as well as her efforts volunteering for area veterans, fraternal and community organizations.

In addition to her husband, family members include two children, Richard DeVito, Jr., and his wife Brenda, of Weston, and Laura DeVito, of Billerica: her stepson, Christopher Nowlan, of Wilmington: nine grandchildren: and her brother, Duke Dewey and his late wife, Alla Mae, of Vermont.

Calling hours are Saturday, June 17th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by services to be held at the funeral Home. Services will conclude with interment at Tewksbury Cemetery, 172 East Street, Tewksbury, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Children Dyslexia Center, Boston North, 79 Dutton Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
