Obituary


SOUTH PORTLAND- Steven “Steve” Leroy Clukey, age 50, passed away on June 1, 2023 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

The son of Clifton Leroy Clukey and Patricia Lee (Hanson)Clukey

Steve Graduated from South Portland High School. After high school, he worked for Eastern Carpet and Upholstery before venturing into construction with Quinn’s Installation Contractors, Which is where he worked for the last 22 years as a building contractor.

He loved his job, but even more, he loved his Quinn family.

He was an amazing father to his son, Hunter. Everything he did from the day that little boy was born was for him.

He was Hunter’s hero.

Steve was affectionately known to his niece and nephews as “Uncle Buddy”

Steve was selfless and would do anything he could to help others. He was an organ donor, so he could help others after his passing.

He was the life of the party, If Steve was there, you spent the night laughing.

He enjoyed fishing, disc golf, camping, he loved the ocean, frisbee on the beach, and motorcycle rides. Pretty much anything outdoors, just spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by son Hunter Clukey of South Portland and his girlfriend Maddy Morgan of Scarborough. His father Clifton L. Clukey and his partner Belle White of Rangeley. His mother Patricia Clukey of Yarmouth. Sister Tamara Tuttle of Cape Elizabeth, niece Jenna and nephews Daniel, Shaun and Shane, along with bonus nieces Amanda, Kyra and Susan. Brother Michael Nichols Sr of Auburn, nephews Mikey and Drew

His life partner Rebecca Hanson of Windham her kids Chase and Landin,

Uncle James “Jim” Hitchcock, wife Kim and kids Tyler and Zachary of Steep Falls, Best friend/“brother”Jonny Kunath and wife Kayla, bonus niece and nephew Jadyn and Kyle of Windham. Uncle Roland Charlton and wife Ping of South Portland, Uncle Richard Charlton and wife Mary of Hollis, Aunt Beverly Pedersen of Connecticut and many cousins.


A celebration of life will be held on July 1 at The Embassy Suites in South Portland from 1-5pm
