Frances K. Strouse, 98

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Frances K. (Kalb) Strouse, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, the day following her 98th birthday, on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Garden Place Healthcare in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard J. Strouse, Sr., who died on January 10, 1989.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 2, 1925, she was a loving daughter of the late William and Emma (Staehle) Kalb.

Frances grew up and was educated in New York City. After raising her family, she continued her studies to become an LPN and worked at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She later was employed as an Industrial Nurse at the former L.G. Balfour Company in Attleboro and retired as a Special Needs Kindergarten Aide for the Mansfield School System.

A resident of Mansfield since 1964, Mrs. Strouse was a former active member of the Mansfield Congregational Church and the West Side Benevolent Circle in Mansfield. When younger she was involved with Mansfield Girl Scouts, serving as a former Girl Scout Leader. Fran loved spending time with family and friends, was an avid reader, a talented painter and especially enjoyed taking daily walks throughout Mansfield, a community she was ever-so-proud to have lived in.

She is survived by her devoted children: Richard J. Strouse, Jr. of Georgetown, Shari Cooper and her husband John of Mashpee, Lance W. Strouse and his wife Kristina of South Weymouth and the late Jacque Cage. She was the cherished grandmother of R.J. Cage, J.D. Cage and his wife Johanna, Caitlin Dotolo and her husband Dan and Andrew Cooper and his wife Kaitlin. She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and was the dear sister of the late William and Josephine.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 8th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

Services, along with burial at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield will be private.
