Obituary

Bernice June White Womack, 72, of the Lands Crossing community, passed away at her residence on Friday, June 2nd. She now rests in the arms of Jesus.

Mrs. June Womack was born in Tifton Georgia on April 25th 1951 to the late Charles D. White and Burnice E. Cleghorn White. June was a 1970 graduate of Irwin County High School. She then attended Ben Hill/Irwin Vocational School where she entered and finished the cosmetology program. She was a hair dresser for many years but had so many more talents. She was a self taught baker of beautiful and delicious decorated cakes. She could sew anything that she had a pattern for and some things that she didn’t. She could cook anything really.

June was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Arp Baptist Church. Due to her declining health she was unable to attend church but it never stopped her love of the Lord. She leaned on Him every day.

June was a devoted wife of Ronald Womack for 41 years and a devoted and loving mother to her only child April Luke. She has left behind so many wonderful memories. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren. Her grandchildren was her world. She loved Lex and Karson so much. They stayed with their Gigi and Papa while we worked until her health got to a point where she couldn’t leave her house much. Her body and spirit were so tired.

June is survived by her husband Ronald Womack; daughter April (Krieg) Luke; two grandchildren Krieg Alexander Luke “Lex” and Karson Avery Luke; a nephew Cameron (Amy) Davis and a great niece Chloe Davis.

A memorial service to celebrate June’s life will be held at 6 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald and will be officiated by Rev. Rex Johnson and Rev. Dewain Joiner.

June was preceded in death by her parents Charles D. White and Burnice E. Cleghorn White and a sister Charlene Kay White Davis.

Flowers are appreciated or donations can be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.

***This is to my mama. You were so very special to me. I appreciate everything you ever did for me to make my life special. Christmas’ that you and Granny would bake and you would pretend that you were Santa’s elves Trixie and Susan. They wrote to me every Christmas before Santa came. They would bring me little treats up until Christmas. The Tooth Fairy and Easter bunny would come too. All the birthday cakes. All the cakes you made and sold so that I could go on trips for band and cheerleading in school. All the times you supported me. You were my biggest fan. You sacrificed so much so I could have what you never did. Mama you made my life so magical. You gave your whole heart to make my life better than the one you had as a child. I wish I had one more phone call and one more time to hear you say this is Mama, I love you baby. I don’t know how to do this without you. You were always the strong one. I don’t know how to be strong with out you. The only thing that gives me comfort right now is knowing you are finally at peace. Finally you are well. No more pain or sickness. You are finally with Granny, Grand daddy and Aunt Char. You are all together now. I’m sure you all are having such a wonderful reunion especially in the presence of our Savior. I’m sure He stood there with His arms stretched wide and said June you are finally home and your work on earth is done. I promise to live my life and raise your grandchildren in such a way that when our time comes to be finished on this earth we too will be welcomed into Heaven and greeted by Jesus and all of you. I hope God let’s you see just how many people thought you were very special. I love you Mommy! Please be my guardian angel for now until we see each other again. Love, your Tutie***
