Obituary

David Hung Phan, 54, of Worcester passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 31st. He is survived by his former wife, Janette Phan of Worcester, MA and their children: Elizabeth Yen Elhoussan and her husband Andre Elhoussan of Worcester, MA, Christine Thuy Phan of Worcester, MA, Michelle Tuyet Phan of Chicago, IL and Brian Cuong Phan of Worcester, MA; his partner Anny Thu Nguyen and their daughter, Emily Vy Phan of Worcester, MA and his nine older siblings and many nieces and nephews around the United States and Vietnam. David is predeceased by his parents in Vietnam.

David worked at IPG Photonics in Oxford for the last seventeen years as a technician. Family was always David's #1 priority. Nothing mattered more to him and this was evident by his efforts to spend time with his children whenever possible. He enjoyed sushi dates, exploring local breweries, and traveling with his family. David was a very social person with many friends. He enjoyed playing musical instruments with his band and meeting up with the guys for coffee. He was a self-taught handyman-- if it was broken, he learned how to fix it. David also had a lot of passion for cooking. In fact, he and his former wife owned a Vietnamese restaurant named Pho Saigon in Worcester, MA years ago but sold it so that they could spend more quality time with their young family. He loved family gatherings and enjoyed cooking for everyone. As a sharp dresser, charismatic with a contagious smile, and being goofy to the core, David was often the life of the party.

David was loved by many and will be immensely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

His funeral is Friday, June 9th with a service starting at 9:00 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday, June 8th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
