John Harris Parsons, 76, of Englewood, FL, formerly of Rockland, MA, passed away unexpectedly in his home on April 27, 2023.
John was born on March 31, 1947 in Brockton, MA. He was raised in Whitman, MA. and was a graduate of Whitman Hanson High School, Class of 1965.
John enjoyed the outdoors, long walks, traveling and his greatest joy was spending time with family. He looked forward to his annual trip to New Hampshire to spend a long weekend with his children and grandchildren. John was also known as “Big John” to many and would offer his help to anyone needing assistance. He loved to walk his neighborhood daily and stop to chat with his neighbors.
John was preceded in death by his parents Russell and Merle (Carey) Parsons, his brother James (Jim) Parsons and his life partner Judith (Judie) Lewis.
He is survived by his sister Phyllis (Correia) Parsons, daughter Sandra and Matthew Wasta of Bristol, CT, daughter Sharon and Douglas Smith of Halifax, MA, son John (Mike) Parsons of Pembroke, MA, son Mark and Patricia Parsons of Wentworth, NH, his cousin Diana Armstrong of Venice, FL, stepfather to Julie Hipe and her husband Michael of Cumming, GA, and the late Robert Lewis and his wife Kimberly of Burnt Hills, NY, and many grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
He was loved and cherished by many and will be greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Blanchard Funeral Chapel, 666 Plymouth Street, (Rte. 58 @ the rotary), Whitman, MA. on August 5th from 9-10:30am with a service to follow at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton, MA.
