Obituary

Worcester: Ellen A. (Summers) McLellan, 60, passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2023 surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She leaves her husband, Daniel McLellan; two daughters, Jessica and her husband Brian Clouthier of Charlton and Alyssa Gimm and her husband Logan of Iowa; a stepson 1st Lieutenant USMC Jonathan McLellan and his wife Amanda of California; two grandsons Jaxson and Mason Clouthier; her parents Danny and Lynn Summers of Iowa; brothers John Summers and his wife Carolyn of Wakefield and Jeff Summers and his wife Ada of Iowa; nieces and nephews Daniel, Jennifer, John and Skyler; along with many close extended family members and friends.

Ellen was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, daughter of John Daniel “Danny” and Lynn (Harvey) Summers. She graduated from Bethel High School in Connecticut and earned her Associates Degree from Endicott College.

Ellen lived a full, but too short, life with the last decade being the most rich. During this time, Ellen met and married the love of her life, Dan. She was able to see her daughters, Alyssa and Jessica, settle into married life. She relished becoming a grandmother to Jaxson and Mason. Ellen found her career calling as a Special Education Aide. Despite a fear of flying, she loved traveling and did much of it with Dan. She also loved being at home with as many dogs and cats as possible.

Throughout Ellen’s life, she was blessed with the love of a big family, many of whom were able to spend lots of time with her in her final months. She loved being in Portsmouth, RI with her devoted parents and her Aunt Anne and Uncle Ed, whom she considered to be bonus parents.

The family would like to thank Dr. Neil Horowitz and his entire staff at Dana Farber for their compassionate care through her illness.
