Obituary

Nicholas Sciannamea, beloved son, brother, brother-in-law and uncle, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2023. He was 56 years old.

Nick was severely autistic and non-verbal, but his love spoke volumes. Despite the challenges he faced his entire life, he still was always able to smile and give more affection to his family and the people who cared for him than you can ever imagine.

Born in Jersey City, NJ and raised in Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ, Nick's challenges led him to be placed at the Behavior Research Institute, now known as the Judge Rotenberg Center in Canton, MA in 1978. For the past 45 years, Nick led a good and happy life provided to him at JRC through the warm and loving staff who treated him as a cherished family member.

Nick was ill for only a short time with cancer, and his passing came way too fast. Thankfully, his family knows he is finally free and is in a better place.

Nick is survived by his parents Alfredo and Angela of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, his brother Michael, his sister-in-law MaryAnn and niece Julianna, all of Monmouth Junction, NJ, as well as his extended family of uncles, aunts and cousins. He is also survived by his JRC family, who are forever in our hearts.

A memorial service for his JRC family will be held on Monday, June 12 at 11 a.m at Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home. He then will be brought home to New Jersey where a service for his family will take place at time to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, place make a donation in Nick's name to a charity that serves the interest of children and adults with autism.
