East Bridgewater- Robert J. Splitz, 77, of East Bridgewater, formerly of West Bridgewater, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at his home, surrounded by his family, after battling cancer. He was the husband of Jane (Seaverns) Splitz.
Born in Boston, a son of the late Stephen J. and Alice (Doherty) Splitz, he was raised and educated in Roslindale.
Mr. Splitz lived in West Bridgewater for 43 years, before moving to East Bridgewater, where he had resided for the past 6 months.
He served in the Mass National Guard Medical Division for 12 years.
Mr. Splitz was a salesman for Winthrop Printing in South Boston for many years.
He volunteered for many years in the WBYAA and served as the vice president for manyyears in the 80s and 90s.
Mr. Splitz and his wife were married for 44 years and he enjoyed traveling, watching boxing and having good times with friends.
In addition to his wife Jane, he is survived by his children, Andrew R. Splitz of East Bridgewater and Jodi Lynne Besse and her husband George of Berkley; his grandchildren, Andrew and Anna Splitz of Bridgewater; and he was the brother of the late Stephen Splitz.
His funeral will be held from the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, Thursday at 10 am, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Ann's Church, West Bridgewater, at 11 am. Burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
