Alberto Algarin, 54, of Woonsocket died Friday May 19, 2023 at UMass Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Born in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico he was son of Lucas Neives of Woonsocket and Benjamin Algarin of Puerto Rico. Alberto came to the United States as a child and grew up in the Bronx, New York. He moved back to Puerto Rico for several years. He returned to the United States and resided in Woonsocket since 1988. Alberto graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1989.
Alberto worked for several businesses in the Woonsocket area including Burger King and Family Dollar Stores. He worked mostly as a cleaning and maintenance person.
Alberto was a baseball fan and true to his Big Apple upbringing he was a staunch New York Yankees fan. He loved music and composed some of his own songs.
Alberto had a special place in his heart for nature and all animals as he liked to feed the squirrels. Alberto loved his dog Tigger with all his heart.
Alberto was a devout Christian. He loved Jesus and spent time reading the Bible.
Alberto will be remembered as a family oriented person. He was a deep thinker and penned his thoughts and ideas. Alberto was an outgoing person who was not afraid to sing in public. Alberto’s unique eccentricity will forever be a part of his legacy. The love and laughter Alberto shared with everyone will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
Alberto is survived by his mother Lucas Nieves and his step father Luis Adiaz of Woonsocket. He was the father of a son Alberto Steven Algarin and four daughters Selina, Samantha, Sophia and Jesenia. He was the brother of Benjamin, Christopher, Brian, Raquel, Idania and Viviane Algarin. He is also survived by one grandson, one granddaughter and his extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in the Rhode Island and New York area and in Puerto Rico.
Services for Alberto are private. Arrangements are in care of the Menard-Lacouture 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
