John M. Belcastro, Sr. a longtime Woburn resident passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 25, 2023, following a period of declining health. He was 87. John was the beloved husband of the late Donna M. (O'Melia) Belcastro and together they shared 65 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2018. Born in Arlington he was one of seven children of the late George and Angelina (Carella) Belcastro.
John was raised and educated in Medford. He worked for many years as a talented Machinist prior to his retirement from the Cambridge Tool Co of Billerica. He was a Woburn resident for 62 years and was a loyal member of the Woburn Sons of Italy Lodge and the Woburn American Legion where he loved to gather with his many friends over a cold beer. John spent his last years at New Horizon Senior Living and the Atrium at Drum Hill Memory Care Community in North Chelmsford. John's greatest joy was spending time with his family and nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by those he loved.
John was the devoted father of John "Jay" Belcastro, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Dracut, Theresa "Sheri" Netishen and her husband Michael of Auburn, NH, and Lori Belcastro and her husband Panos Ninios of Westport, CT. He was the loving grandfather of Tracy Belcastro, John Belcastro III, Michael Netishen Jr., Thomas Netishen and his wife Shannon, Nikos Ninios, Alexia Ninios, and Paris Ninios. Brother of the late Ann Diorio, Nancy LeBlanc, Al, Sammy, Joe, and Pasquale Belcastro.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Friday, June 2nd, at 11 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the mass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in John's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
