Obituary

SALEM- Edward Joseph Berry, 69, husband of Joan M. (Murphy) Berry, of Salem, died Tuesday morning, August 13, 2002 at home of Multiple Myeloma.

Born in Salem, he was the son of the late George N. and Stella E. (Nicgorski) Berry.

Prior to his retirement in 1998, he was employed for 42 years as a central office technician in the West Peabody office of the New England Telephone Co., later known as Bell Atlantic when he retired.

A Lifelong resident of the city, he was a graduate of Salem High School, a parishioner of the St Thomas the Apostle Church and a member of the Knight of Columbus, Veragua Council #76 of Salem.

Mr Berry was an avid gardener and enjoyed golf.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 45 years of marriage, he is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Edward J. And Carol Berry Jr. of Revere, four daughters, Susan and her husband Donald Cann , Anne and her husband Steven Heutlinger, all of Danvers, Judith Berry and Jennifer Berry, both of Salem, eight grandchildren, Lindsay Cann, Maggie Cann, Rebecca Cann, Jacob Heutlinger, Adam Heutlinger and Olivia Heutlinger, all of Danvers, Mitchell Berry of Revere, Angela Berry of Salem, two brothers, Paul F. Berry of Fernandina Beach, Florida, George N. Berry Jr of Salem and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2002 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at St Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, 4 to 8 pm. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
