Obituary

HIRAM- Christopher Jordan Heller passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Maine Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 8, 1950, in Port Jervis, NY to James and Priscilla Jordan Heller. Chris was educated in Southbury, CT schools graduating from Woodbury High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Army Rangers. He had tours in Vietnam and Germany.
While living in Connecticut he was employed as a Hartford Police Officer and as a long-haul truck driver. After moving to Maine in 1992 he met the love of his life, Sylvia, and his partner for 31 years. He enjoyed living in Hiram, Maine where he hunted in the beautiful Maine woods. Some of his favorite memories were snowmobiling with his good friend Peter Larsen and fishing on his boat Ranger 72 at Norwoods Marina at Camp Ellis. Here he made many lasting friendships. He also enjoyed several trips traveling to the Keys, especially driving his red Ford F 150 from Maine to Florida with Sylvia.

Chris had many interests. He was known for his cooking skills. Family members looked forward to his famous roast beef at Christmastime. He loved searching for a new recipe to try using lots of herbs and spices. Smoking meat in his cast iron smoker was another favorite pastime along with barbecuing on the grill.

Most recently Chris had a new hobby of making knives with his good friend, Charlie. He was so proud that he finished a knife to give to one of his friends. He had several other knife projects in the works, but he just ran out of time.

Chris is survived by his beloved partner Sylvia Pease, and his extended family; Cathy, Sean and Ben Potter, Arlyn & Claire Trueworthy, Ken Trueworthy, Larry Trueworthy, Charles & Lisa Trueworthy, Darin Trueworthy & Laurie Carr, Amy Davis, Lawrence & Nicole Trueworthy, Michael Trueworthy, and his good friend David Grimaldi. He will be missed by his family and friends.

The family is grateful to the staff at Maine Medical Center for the exceptional care they gave to Chris during his final days. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 15th at the Stanley Cemetery in Hiram, Maine.
