Mrs. Alice K. (Pontolillo) Babcock 84, died Friday May 19, 2006 at the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Herman A. Babcock, who died in 1984.
Born in the Dorchester section of Boston, July 20, 1921 a daughter of the late Samuel C. and Madeline (Aramando) Pontolillo, she lived in Franklin for more than 45 years.
She was educated in Boston schools, and was a retired designer, who worked for several large department stores. She frequently traveled, and would often times work the New York market.
After her husband died, Mrs. Babcock formed the Milford Widows Club. She was also a member of the Franklin Senior Citizens, and was a active member of the Franklin Council on Aging. She led tour buses around New Hampshire and surrounding areas taking loads of mostly senior citizens gambling to Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino.
She is survived by a son Richard C.A. Babcock of Woonsocket, a sister Mary Lebherz, and a grandson Richard C.A. Babcock Jr. of Woonsocket.
She was the sister of the late Thomas, Joseph and Vincent Pontolillo, Edith Benjamin, and Virginia Pontolillo. She was the grandmother of the late Christopher Allen Babcock, who died Feb. 13, 2006. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday June 24, 2006 with a graveside service at St. Joseph Cemetery Oakland St. Medway at 11AM. Rev. David Marcham, parochial vicar of St. Mary’s Church in Franklin will officiate. Burial will follow.
There are no public calling hours.
Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Charles River Masonic Lodge 37 Cottage St. W. Medway.
In lieu of flowers donations in her memory sent to the American Cancer Society 1115 W. Chestnut St. Brockton, MA 02301 would be appreciated.
