Obituary

WEBSTER – Robert F. “Bob” Shead, 92, died Saturday, May 20 in the Rose Monahan Hospice, Worcester, after a brief illness.

He leaves his wife of 61 years, Barbara M. (Gracyalny) Shead; a son, Jeffrey R. Shead and his companion Nancy Byrnes of Webster; a daughter, Karen M. Morin and her husband David of Thompson, CT; 4 grandchildren, Megan Zablocki and her husband Ryan of Pomfret, CT, Jeffrey Shead of Putnam, CT, Samantha and Ashley Morin of Thompson, CT; 3 great-grandchildren, Haley, Cody and Madelyn Zablocki; nephews and nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Shead and by his sister Marilyn Petersen.

He was born in Manchester, Connecticut on April 3, 1931, a son of Edgar and Helen (Grant) Shead. He was a 1949 graduate of Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, CT, he took courses in computer science at Worcester Business School and IBM School in Boston.

Mr. Shead worked for many years as a computer operator with Coppus Engineering in Worcester, retiring in 1998. After retirement he worked in the men’s department at Macy’s in Auburn and was a driver for CAP in Webster.

He was a parishioner of Saint Joseph Basilica. A talented artist, he painted in oil and water-colors and drew in pen and ink. He enjoyed woodworking and creating stained glass. A talented pianist and organist, he played at the Dudley Hill Congregational Church for many years.

All services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster, MA 01570. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street.
