Robert “Bob” R. Gilbert, 64, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, died Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Roger Williams Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of 43 years to his wife, Sandra L. (Pierini) Gilbert.
Born in Central Falls, Bob was one of five children to the late Bertha (Davies) Gilbert. Bob grew up in Pawtucket and spent the majority of his married life living in Smithfield.
Bob always enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved his trips to Maine to go snowshoeing and snowmobiling. He continued to show his love of the outdoors later in life while playing with his grandchildren. Bob was a fan of the New England Patriots and spent many Sundays cheering on his favorite team. He also enjoyed gardening, and watching birds make homes out of his many bird houses in the yard. Bob was a valued employee of Nordson EFD, working multiple positions for 32 years.
Besides his wife Sandra, Bob is survived by his children; Kelly Gilbert of Woonsocket and Jarrad Gilbert and his wife, Spring of Chepachet, his grandchildren; Rhyannon, Simone, Aiden, Khory, Kendahl, Annabelle, Jason, Jakob, Liam, his great granddaughter, Oakley along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 19th, 4-7pm in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
